Scotland Spin 🏴
The 7th annual long weekend in Scotland, and this year we’re going further than ever: the Gairloch Hotel, right on the sea in Wester Ross.
It’s a long run up on Friday, but look at what’s on the doorstep: Applecross and the Bealach na Bà, Glen Torridon, Loch Maree, the west coast road and Skye. The best roads in the British Isles, starting from the hotel car park.
Dinner, bed and breakfast is sorted. We eat together every night, and the bar is open to the group until 11pm.

Where We’re Staying
The Gairloch Hotel, on the shore of Gairloch Bay with views out to Skye. A big Victorian hotel that’s used to feeding a crowd, with a restaurant, a lounge bar with live music some nights, and parking out front for the bikes.

How Far Is It?
Further than we’ve ever gone. Here’s the honest version.
That’s about 115 km and 1½ hours more than Newtonmore last year, and roughly an hour past Strathpeffer. Worth it for what’s on the doorstep.

How It Works
This is not a group spin. Feel free to join anyone and make a group to do any spins you like.
The Ferry
Belfast to Cairnryan, 3–4 sailings a day. Book a flexible ticket in case your plans change.
This year more than ever: go over on Thursday. Gairloch is about 490 km and 7 hours from Cairnryan before stops. A Thursday-evening ferry and a night near the port, or further up the road, turns Friday from a slog into a great ride. See the route and times →
Getting There
The route is class: up Loch Lomond, through Glencoe, past Fort William and up the Great Glen, then west past Loch Maree to the coast. And the yearly reminder: no A9 south of Inverness. Routes will be shared in advance.
Friday — Arrival
Check in, your room’s already assigned, just collect your key. At 19:30 we all sit down to dinner together. Pick a good seat, it’s yours for the next 5 meals.
Friday Night
The bar’s open to the group until 11pm, with live music some nights. Just don’t be so hungover you miss the Bealach in the morning.
Saturday & Sunday — Ride Days
Breakfast is a hot buffet from 07:00 to 09:00, with an earlier continental if you ask. Applecross is 90 minutes away, and Torridon, Loch Maree, Ullapool and Skye are all a morning’s ride. Routes in various formats will be shared.
Tip: Find people with the same pace as you — otherwise it can be difficult to keep up.
Monday — Head Home
Final breakfast, goodbyes, and a long run south to the ferry. Leave early, and drive safe.
